Dr. Schickler graduated on the Dean’s Honours List, from the University of Waterloo, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Honours Biochemistry. She then completed her Doctor of Optometry degree, graduating Dean’s Honours List, from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry. During her studies at the School of Optometry, Dr. Schickler worked in Contact Lens Research in the School’s Vision Science department, creating a laboratory method to measure in vivo lipid depositions on contact lenses, and co-authored a research paper in the ‘Eye & Contact Lens’ Journal.
Also during her studies, Dr. Schickler completed internships in Kitchener and Elmira Ontario. She also spent an internship in an Ophthalmology setting in Ottawa, Ontario where she gained experience in ocular disease both in clinic, and in emergency and referred care at the Ottawa Eye Clinic and the Eye Care Center at the Ottawa Hospital.
Dr. Schickler has been privileged to work in clinics in Huntsville and in Orillia over her 22 year-long career and is excited to be back in Orillia providing care for patients at Orillia Optometry. She enjoys full-scope optometry and seeing patients of all ages.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Schickler enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, cooking holistic meals, nordic skiing, and volunteering at her daughter’s figure skating club.
